Splicing

Splicing is an ability exclusively wielded by Predators. It involves extracting Samples of DNA from other creatures and consuming them to temporarily or permanently change their own physiology.

Samples can be extracted from carcasses of the recently deceased. The creature must have died in the last 30 or so minutes before its body becomes unusable for extraction.

Extraction requires a successful splicing roll and usually takes a couple of minutes based on the creature. Splicing rolls become easier the more samples of the same creature a predator has already extracted.

Samples can be injected to temporarily shift your physiology according to the sample. Samples usually last a couple of hours but timings may vary per sample to sample.

Consuming samples consumes strain, and maintaining them does too.

Once a Sample has been consumed a number of times equal to its Immunology value, a predator may choose to permanently integrate it into its body, gaining its effects and permanently reducing its strain by a value. Doing so is irreversible and predators may choose to integrate a number of samples as long as its strain permits it.
