Strain
Strain is a measure of how worn out your body is to the flux of mana. Higher levels of strain cause spells to become more expensive.
Casting a spell always expends 1 strain (unless noted otherwise), each character has their own strain cap, as long your strain is under that cap, you can keep casting spells normally. Once surpassed, while you can keep casting, all your spells gain the following:
| Overflow | Spell Effect |
|---|---|
| Same as cap | All of your spells gain an added difficulty dice |
| 1 over | All of your spells gain an added difficulty dice |
| 2 over | You can only cast spells with a maximum of one modifier |
| 3 over | You can only cast spells in a field in which you are proficient |
| 4 over (and more) | Add an additional difficulty dice (TO ALL ROLLS) for each strain above 4 |
| *\This table is cumulative, meaning the effects are added on top of each other |
